    FAQ

Do I need to use a footprint with this tent?

The Space Dome has a relatively waterproof (2500mm) floor, so can be used in fairly wet (but not downright boggy) conditions without a footprint. However, a footprint will protect the floor from damage on abrasive surfaces.

Unbelievably quick setup. Packs down small

I found the tent easy to set up. What I really, really liked was that it also folded/struck back down really easily and that the carrying bag for this is well thought out. The bag is well stitched. The first closure is drawstring. This is backed up with quick-release buckles. I like redundant systems, especially on my gear. I like knowing that if one system fails the backup will keep the tent from expanding in my bag.

Shall I say "aerodynamic" or "waterdynamic"?

I have had many tents since I was a "Boyscout" about 50 years ago. Some made of thin fabrics, others thick. Some did perform well under the rain, others leaked (I never forget one rainy weekend in which we spent most of the days soaked and wet). Not only the fabric must be "waterproof" to keep campers dry, but it's dynamic and design is also important. I love this "dual purpose" tent. If there would be no rain, it would be great to take the cover off at night! Very light, easy to set up and repack, if this is truly waterproof (have not tested yet) , this is a winner! Excellent design!

    Great stargazing tent!

There's a lot to like about this tent. The fact that it has doors on both sides is a serious plus. I get a little claustrophobic in tents but this one has a high center and the walls are almost completely vertical which helps a lot. The rainfly comes off by simply unclipping it from the tent at the base.
The rainfly also has Velcro attachments that allow for additional venting.
My favorite part of this tent so far is that it's all mesh on the top. This is the best design for stargazing on cool summer nights.
Stitching seems good. Stakes it came with seem sturdy enough, which isn't usually the case for tents I've had in the past. Didn't need to use them this time though.
    No footprint included.
